Goldilocks And The Three Bins

Accurately determining the correct size of dumpster for the job at hand is important to avoid unnecessary disposal costs.  A bin that is too small means you’ll have to order a second bin to finish the job. A bin that is too large means you’ve overspent on your waste disposal budget. Just like Goldilocks, you want the one that’s just right.

While we might not be talking about beds and bowls of porridge, ordering the correct dumpster can be just as simplistic.

  1. Know your materials – Only doing a replacement of some insulation? That is a lot easier to compact and maximize available space in a dumpster as opposed to solid material such as lumber and concrete which is going to have a lot of dead space unless it is tediously stacked in rows.
  2. Order based on known facts – Doing a roofing job? Each of our bins has a corresponding amount of squares of shingles that they hold. Know your squares, know your dumpster size!
  3. Go by past experience – Most remodelers know the contents of a small bathroom demo fit into a 10 cubic yard dumpster. If that’s your experience then you can use that going forward when ordering for different job sites. Got a much larger bathroom? A 15 cubic yard bin may be in order.
